How a dental implant works

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at its root — a small titanium post is placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over a few months to form a stable foundation. A custom crown is then attached on top, matched to the shape, size and shade of your natural teeth.

Unlike bridges or dentures, an implant doesn't rely on neighbouring teeth for support, and it actively preserves the jawbone that would otherwise shrink after tooth loss — our doctors are specifically trained in Advanced Implant Training (OIC) to plan these cases precisely.

Who is a good candidate?

  • Missing one or more teeth from extraction, injury or decay
  • Adequate jawbone density, or willingness to consider a bone graft
  • Healthy gums, free of active periodontal disease
  • Wanting a fixed solution rather than removable dentures
  • Non-smokers, or willing to reduce smoking during healing

Why choose an implant

Looks & Feels Natural

Custom-matched crown that blends seamlessly with your smile.

Preserves Jawbone

Stimulates bone the same way a natural tooth root does.

Built to Last

With good care, implants commonly last 15–25+ years.

Protects Neighbouring Teeth

No need to grind down healthy teeth, unlike a bridge.

Our process

01

Assessment & Planning

X-ray/scan to evaluate bone density and plan implant position.

02

Implant Placement

The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia.

03

Healing & Fusion

Over 2–4 months, the implant fuses securely with the bone.

04

Crown Attachment

A custom-matched crown is fitted on top for full function.

Aftercare tips

  • Follow prescribed medication and rinse instructions closely
  • Eat soft foods for the first several days
  • Avoid smoking — it significantly slows implant healing
  • Attend every follow-up to monitor the healing implant

Frequently asked questions

Is implant surgery painful?

The placement itself is done under local anesthesia, so it's not painful. Mild swelling or discomfort for a few days afterward is normal and manageable with medication.

How long does the entire process take?

From placement to final crown, the full process typically takes 3–6 months, allowing enough time for the implant to fuse securely with the bone.

What if I don't have enough jawbone?

A bone graft can rebuild sufficient density before implant placement — we'll assess this during your initial consultation and X-ray.
